The Crown Ballroom sits proudly atop the grand Pythian Building in downtown Portland. Built nearly a century ago as a spectacular and lasting tribute to Italian Renaissance architecture, The Crown proudly hosts some of Portland's most enchanted weddings and receptions.

Occupying the entire penthouse floor, this showcase venue offers The Crown Ballroom & Garden Court for Weddings & Receptions.

With its vaulted, cathedral-style ceiling, massive gold chandeliers and dramatic wainscoting, The Crown Ballroom is the romantic realization of an Italian Grand Salon.

The formal velvet-curtained stage with hand painted frieze, carved proscenium and wrought iron candelabra is an enchanting backdrop for our city's most photographed and cherished weddings.

Immediately following your ceremony, you and your guests enjoy a leisurely pre-reception in The Garden Court. This large, lavishly decorated cocktail room boasts modern European styling with artful accents and sweeping mid-town views. Classic antiques, richly upholstered furniture and beautiful objets d'art make this room and your pre-reception a most enchanting experience.

During this 45-minute pre-reception, our experienced bartenders mix and pour your favorite libations from a hosted or non-hosted bar. While hors d' oeuvres are being passed on gold trays by our uniformed staff, you and your guests are free to enjoy the unique East-meets-West, Chippendale-meets-Modern Art ambiance.

The buffet is opened as the Bride and Groom are then announced and lead their guests through a double-sided, fully decorated serpentine-style buffet and back into The Ballroom, which has just been transformed from chapel style seating to banquet seating. Double-linened tables range from intimate cabarets to mid-size and large banquet tables, complete with candle-lit crystal vases and votives.

The Crown's in-house DJ completes the music and entertainment picture for your event. While available for your ceremony, he will also MC the toast, cutting of the cake, the first dance and will make all announcements. Top of the line stereo and mixing equipment is also complimented by over a dozen lighting and fog effects.

For all Brides and Grooms with dates reserved at The Crown Ballroom, a complimentary tasting and menu planning party with an open bar is host by Connor Catering at The Crown. Connor Catering is pleased to offer a tantalizing selection of menu's, including the widely applauded "Crown Affaire Dinner Buffet," which also includes 2 hors d' oeuvres to be passed by uni-formed staff during your Garden Court pre-reception, All bartenders, alcoholic beverages and liability insurance is provided by Connor Catering, Joseph Connor, owner and executive chef.

Having hosted and coordinated over 9 years of beautiful weddings at The Crown, Raven David is available on-site to direct your rehearsal and assist you in planning your perfect day, as well as to choreograph the event itself. The only thing remaining for you to do ~ as Raven says ~ is to "have the time of your life!"
