01

Ask what the finished gallery includes

Photographers differ in image selection and editing approach. Ask how final photographs are chosen and whether a typical gallery range can be discussed for weddings like yours. Focus on curation philosophy and coverage completeness rather than treating a larger image count as automatically better.

02

Printing rights are not the same as copyright

A client may receive permission to print and share images while the photographer retains copyright. Read the contract to understand the actual license. Check personal printing, social sharing, vendor sharing and publication terms that matter to you instead of assuming 'digital files included' answers every rights question.

03

Know how long the gallery stays online

Online galleries are convenient, but couples should download and back up their files according to the photographer's instructions rather than treating a hosted gallery as permanent storage. When the gallery arrives, make at least one independent backup and note any stated gallery-expiration or rehosting terms in the contract.

04

Albums are a separate design experience

If an album matters, compare page count, materials, revision process and parent-copy options before assuming every package includes the same product. Ask who selects initial images, how revisions work, what upgrades cost and whether there is a deadline for completing the design.

05

Understand the delivery process before the wedding

Contracts should explain expected delivery and products. If timing matters for gifts or announcements, discuss it before booking. Distinguish previews from the complete gallery and confirm what happens if album selection or another client action delays a product. Save delivery expectations in your couple account so post-wedding tasks have an owner.

Portland wedding planning FAQ

Do couples own the copyright to wedding photos?

Not automatically. Rights depend on the photographer's contract and applicable law. Review the license provided with your agreement.

Should we download our wedding gallery?

Yes. Follow the photographer's instructions and maintain your own backups rather than relying solely on a hosted gallery.
